Steve Davis (Tenor)

Steve musical experience began when he was twelve years old and his parents held a gun to his head and made him take piano lessons. Actually, he was self-taught for a few months and found that he enjoyed the piano and agreed to take lessons. He played the trumpet through most of college before moving to Illinois from New Mexico where he was raised.

Steve joined the Society in 1989 after returning from a family reunion in Kansas City where he heard Barbershop for the first time. He sang with the South Cook Chapter for almost two years before transferring to the Lake County Chapter of the Cardinal District. He cut his quartetting teeth in Cardinal Blend. In 1994, he was able to join the Northbrook New Tradition and sing with them in Pittsburgh. His next quartet was the aptly named Moments of Brilliance. While not the greatest singers in the Illinois District, they did have a lot of fun on stage. After a few personnel changes, Chicago Swing was born and won the Illinois District Championship in 2000. Steve took a short hiatus from quartetting before he stepped in to sing with 2002 District Champions Aces High. In 2005, Steve was asked to take over at tenor for Take 2. In 2006 Mike and Steve decided that they like each other enough to form another quartet. Steve feels extremely blessed to be able to sing with three great guys.

Steve has been married to his lovely and patient wife, Pam for nine years.

Mike Woods (Lead)

Mike attended Indiana University where he had his first singing experience with IU SING (a campus wide singing competition).

He began his barbershop career in the early 90's in the JAD district singing with the Dayton Metro Chorus. After several 'learning' quartet's, Mike traveled with the JAB's chorus to New Zealand and Australia where he performed with a pick up quartet on National T.V. in Austrailia and several radio stations in New Zealand. Not long after that, Mike joined Heartbeat quartet and went on to three top 3 finishes in the JAD district. He unfortunately had to leave Heartbeat to go on a 4 year job assignment in Italy.

Between Italy and work, Mike was out of barbershop for over 7 years. But after moving to Chicago in 2003, Mike joined the New Tradition Chorus and has sang in several quartets such as Sound Design and Take 2 which have slowly climbed the Illinois district ranks.

Mike has been married to his lovely wife Laura for 13 years and has four wonderful children: Camden 12, Alessia 10 and twins Aeddon and Bennet 3.

Duane had his music debut at 4 years old, singing the Prayer from Hansel and Gretl at an SAI music sorority recital accompanied by his mother on piano. He performed in the Tulsa Boy’s Singers and sang under his father in the church choir.

Duane became a professional musician while a student at the University of Tulsa, playing trumpet (which he had studied under his Father) in the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra, teaching private lessons on the trumpet and playing in dance bands, rodeos, Ice Capades, and other jobs to earn his way through college.

Duane’s first Barbershop experience was with the Wingmen, a quartet that lasted while he was in USAF Pilot Training for one year. The quartet developed a repertoire for singing at Bar-B-Ques and other civic events in Del Rio, Texas. After Duane and his wife raised a family, Duane joined the New Tradition chorus and shortly thereafter became the Bass in the Traditionaires from 1994 to 1996. He sang in competing quartets, including Final Four and Playback between 2000 and 2004. Duane became a District Quartet Champion and International Competitor with Lakeside Edition in 2004 and 2005 before starting with Rush Street in late 2006.

Pat Henders (Baritone)

Pat joined the harmony society at age 15 (next year will be his 25th year as a member) with a chorus called the Arlingtones, in which his two brothers and father were also members.

His father, Ray Henders, sang tenor with the 1981 International champion quartet the "Chicago News". Pat was fortunate enough to sing with his father for about five years with a popular quartet called "VoiceMale",which also included Randy Rogers and Doug Watson, they finished as high as 2nd place in the Illinois District.

In 1987 he won a Gold medal singing with the West towns chorus (now called the Chicago Metro Chapter) under the direction of Greg Lyne. He also won two silver medals the two years prior to 1987. He also sang under Greg Lyne with the "Great American chorus" winning two bronze medals in 2000 and 2001.

Before singing with Rush Street he sang in a quartet called "Boomtown", before his lead Chris Kirkham received a new job in Malaysia. On May 20th, 2006, the best day of his life, he married his best friend MaryPat Keller who is very supportive of his singing. He also has great dog named Chloe, a yellow lab.

In December of 2006 he received a call from some guy named Mike Woods asking to join a new quartet and seven months later experienced another of the greatest events of his life as Rush Street competed on The International stage in Denver.
